Open Access Colonoscopy

Open Access Colonoscopy is a service we provide that allows healthy patients to easily schedule a routine screening colonoscopy without a pre-procedure visit. Open Access Colonoscopy is generally appropriate for patients between the ages of 45 and 70 and:

• Are not experiencing and gastrointestinal symptoms, such as constipation, abdominal pain, bloating or diarrhea.

• Do not have any significant health issues such as heart or lung disease, diabetes, sleep apnea or other breathing problems.

• Have not experienced problems with anesthesia in the past.

If you are interested in scheduling your colonoscopy through our Open Access program, please print and complete the forms attached below. You may return the forms by mail, fax, email attachment (please note that documents sent via email may not be secure) or by dropping them off at our office. Once received, a member of our clinical staff will review your forms to confirm that Open Access is right for you and no pre-procedure consultation is warranted. If so, a member of our scheduling team will contact you to set up your procedure. If we feel it would be better for you to consult with a gastroenterologist prior to your procedure, we will contact you to set up this appointment and explain the reason why we feel this is necessary.

Options for preparing for your procedure will be discussed with you and the appropriate instructions will be sent by mail or email. Most of the time screening colonoscopies are fully covered by insurance, but if you will have any financial responsibility for your procedure you will be contacted in advance of your procedure date to discuss payment options.

If you have any questions about the Direct Access Colonoscopy Program, please call our office at 540-371-7600.
